نویسنده
چکیده
The modulation effect in the direct detection of supersymmetric Cold Dark Matter (CDM) particles is investigated. It is shown that, while normally the modulation effect in the total event rate is small, ≤ 5%, in some special cases it becomes much larger. It also becomes more pronounced in the differential event rate. It may thus be exploited to discriminate against background.

The direct detection rate for supersymmetric cold dark matter (CDM) particles is calculated for a number of suitable nuclear targets. Both the coherent and spin contributions are considered. By considering representative phenomenologically acceptable input in the restricted SUSY parameter space, detectable rates are predicted for some choices of the parameters. The modulation effect, due to the...

Supersymmetric models predict a natural dark-matter candidate , stable baryonic Q-balls. They could be copiously produced in the early Universe as a by-product of the Affleck-Dine baryogenesis. I review the cosmological and astrophysical implications , methods of detection, and the present limits on this form of dark matter.

Precision measurements of electroweak observables provide stringent tests of the Standard Model structure and an accurate determination of its parameters. A brief overview of the present experimental status is presented. A more extensive discussion can be found in Ref. 1.

A ring-laser experiment, similar to the Canterbury ring laser, to detect axion-and qed-induced vacuum birefringence is proposed. It uses a slowly modulated magnetic field and a novel polarization geometry. Both axion coupling and vacuum birefringence would modulate the Sagnac beat frequency. A null result could place sensitive bounds on the axion mass and on two-photon coupling. The axion was o...
